A Bird a Day

As the name suggests this shop on Etsy promises a new drawing of a bird (almost) every day. Talented artist Natasha Newton, who divides her time between Suffolk and Paris, has set herself a challenge to draw a new piece of bird art for five days of every week for 2013. I think her drawings are just beautiful and incredibly affordable – ranging in price from £30 – £45 you’ll be hard pressed to find an original piece of art for less. I know what I’ll be requesting for my birthday this year. What Natasha say about A Bird A Day

A Bird A Day is a year-long art and illustration project, starting on 16th January 2013. It will run for 365 days, and for five days of every week, I will be creating a new piece of original bird art.

It sounds like a huge undertaking, and it is, but I’ll also be in control of how simple or complex the artwork will be. It could range from one of my more detailed bird paintings through to a very quick sketch or drawing, or maybe even something else such as a papercut or small clay bird. I’m going to figure this part out as I go along! The most important thing is that it will encourage me to make something daily (or almost daily) throughout the year, and will push me to experiment with the type of art I create.
